James Stuart Cain arrived in Bodie at the idealistic age of 25. He soon realized his dreams with hard work and a touch of luck. Cain became the principal landowner in Bodie. Later generations moved to Bridgeport bringing the legacy James created with them.
The Cain House has been lovingly restored. Relax in comfortable elegance. Each room has been individually decorated. The grandeur of the Eastern Sierra Mountains is the perfect setting for evening refreshments on the front porch as the sun sets, turning the sky into a fiery, purple canvas.
The pristine beauty of the valley, lakes, and streams await you. Enjoy your day participating in the activities offered in this outdoor recreational paradise. Depending upon the season, they include: hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and much more. Less than one hour away, in either direction, is downhill skiing and Nevada gaming. The Cain House has been lovingly restored. Relax in comfortable elegance. Each room has been individually decorated. The Cain House offers visitors an affordable lodging choice in a serene and relaxing setting. This is the ideal location for a family outing or a romantic getaway.
The Cain House is close to a number of fishing lakes, streams, hiking trails, restaurants, shopping and beautiful scenery. The fall is especially colorful.
The facility is centrally located in historic Bridgeport next to the Mono County Courthouse which was built in 1880.
The Cain House has a park-like setting, perfect for relaxing, after a day of fishing, horseback riding, hiking and other outdoor activity. Bridgeport is nested in a Big Meadow, in the Heart of the Eastern Sierra.
California's finest trout fishing may be found in the surrounding lakes, rivers and streams.
Come and enjoy the quiet serenity and beautiful views of California's High Sierra. The Cain House is open from Memorial Day Weekend through the end of October. Reservations accepted year round.

Guests have three options:
Large downstairs room, historically decorated in deep reds and dark oak. Celebrating our vintage furnishings & decor with Rosa May, madam of Bodie, CA. No smoking or pets.
Warm and Spacious downstairs suite at the front of the house with oak furnishings. Large tiled bathroom. Access to private balcony. No smoking or pets.
Our Captains Suite has a private entrance. Elegantly decorated in hunter green and burgundy paisley. Mahogany furnishings with four poster bed. Walk In closet. Downstairs. No smoking or pets.
Simple, yet elegantly Cape Cod style, antique bedroom set, decorated in burgundy and ivory. Morning Sun. Upstairs. No smoking or pets.
The morning sun brightens the largest room in the house. Two queen brass beds, large bathroom. Upstairs. No smoking or pets.
Our idea of a romantic honeymoon room suite. Decorated in white-washed pine, soft pink and peach accents. Upstairs. No smoking or pets.
Light and airy, simply decorated in wicker and pale green. With thoughts of the coast, Silverado will leave you relaxed and refreshed. Upstairs. No smoking or pets.
Private Quarters: Two Seperate Bedrooms boasts One King, One Queen with both sharing a bathroom with a skylight. Pine floors and cabinets. Full Kitchen & Amenities as Main House. Loveseat sleeper and electric fireplace. No smoking or pets.

Annett’s Mono Village and Twin Lakes Resort too, since both have restaurants, stores, boat rentals and Twin Lakes resort has paddle board rentals.
Virginia Lakes Pack Station and Leavitt Meadows Pack Station both offer day horseback trips.
